Infiltration attempt carried out at the time when Pakistan-Afghanistan negotiations are underway in Turkiye
Security forces thwarted a major infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing 25 militants, including suicide bombers. The exchange of fire took place across the general areas of Ghaki in Kurram district and Spinwam in North Waziristan, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces detected movements of two large groups of Khwarij trying to infiltrate Pakistan from across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border towards the general areas of Ghaki in Kurram District and Spinwam in North Waziristan District on the night of 24-25 October 2025.
“Our troops effectively engaged these groups of Khwarij and as a result of precise and skillful engagements, 15 Khwarij, including four suicide bombers belonging to the Indian proxy Fitna al-Khwarij, were sent to hell in Spinwam, North Waziristan District,” ISPR said.

In Ghaki, Kurram district, another group of infiltrating militants was engaged by security forces resulting in more casualties and recovery of arms and explosives.
“Another 10 infiltrating Khwarij were killed in Ghaki, Kurram district, while a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the slain terrorists,” ISPR stated.
But during the exchange of fire, the military said five soldiers were martyred while fighting gallantly in the line of duty.
“Five brave sons of soil – Havaldar Manzoor Hussain, 35, (Resident of District Ghizar), Sepoy Nauman Ilyas Kiyani, 23, (Resident of District Poonch), Sepoy Muhammad Adil, 24, (Resident of District Kasur), Sepoy Shah Jehan, 25, (Resident of District Ghizar) and Sepoy Aliirh, 25, Vehar District. (res) (native of District Pak Pattan) – fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced the Shahadah,” ISPR said.
The military media wing noted that the timing of the infiltration attempts coincided with ongoing diplomatic engagements between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Türkiye.

“It is significant to note that these infiltration attempts by Fitna al-Khwarij are being carried out at a time when delegations from Pakistan and Afghanistan are engaged in negotiations in Türkiye,” the ISPR stated, “casting serious doubt on the intentions of the interim Afghan government regarding its commitment to tackling terrorism emanating from its soil.”
The statement added that Pakistan has consistently called on the Interim Afghan Government to ensure effective border management and fulfill its obligations under the Doha Agreement by preventing Khwarij elements from using Afghan territory against Pakistan.
A decontamination operation is currently underway to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored militants in the area. ISPR reaffirmed that the relentless counter-terrorism campaign under ‘Azm-e-Istihkam’ as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan will continue at full pace to eradicate the menace of foreign sponsored terrorism from the country.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces for their successful operation in thwarting the infiltration bid in North Waziristan and Kurram.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the President expressed deep admiration for the courage and dedication of the armed forces in defending the motherland and paid tribute to the five martyrs who gave their lives in the line of duty.
“The evil of the Kharijite elements and their Indian sponsors will never succeed in their nefarious designs,” asserted President Zardari, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eliminate terrorism in all its forms.
