Autumn International 2025 will be a veritable jamboree of elite rugby union action, with the world’s best international sides converging on the northern hemisphere for some mouth-watering matchups. The Six Nations teams are the hosts, with the touring Rugby Championship teams as well as Fiji, Tonga, Japan and the USA also featuring.
Scotland have superb backs Blair Kinghorn, Finn Russell and Darcy Graham but need more forward power to go into next year’s Six Nations with more confidence. Wales has Louis Rees-Zammit back from his NFL stint and managed to end an 18-game losing streak against Japan last time out as the Steve Tandy era takes shape. France may have captain Antoine Dupont back from injury at the end of November, but fly-half Matthieu Jalibert and lock Romain Taofifenua are the latest casualties. Les Bleus’ opening match against South Africa should be a classic.
South Africa almost managed to defend their Rugby Championship crown, but the Springboks were inconsistent and even let a 22-0 lead slip against Australia. Played five times and hope newly unearthed flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu can continue his superb recent form. Australia will look to continue their momentum after a better-than-expected showing against the Lions and an impressive Rugby Championship campaign that included a first win at Ellis Park against the Boks in 62 years. All eyes will once again be on influential Rob Valenti’s fitness woes. New Zealand will have the three Barrett brothers in Europe, along with improved scrum-half Cam Roigard, but doubts are mounting over head coach Scott Robertson after an inconsistent Rugby Championship in which they won back and lost again, the world number one.
Elsewhere they are talented Fiji get a chance to show their minerals against England and France after impressing at the last Rugby World Cup, Tonga visit Murrayfield with big prop Ben Tameifuna looking to add to his glittering reputation and USA also play Scotland ahead of their hosting of the World Cup in 2031. Meanwhile Japan will see to bloody more big boy noses, which is exactly what head coach Eddie Jones loves to do the most.
