Keira Knightley feels “lucky” to have survived her early experiences of fame.
The 40-year-old actress has had a very successful career in the film industry after starring in Bend it like Beckham back in 2002 – but Keira admits that her life and her career could easily have gone in a different direction.
speaks to The independentexplained Keira: “The grown-up me is very aware that people can go through very difficult periods in their lives and they don’t come out of it with a very successful career and a very healthy bank balance. I feel incredibly lucky.”
The Pride and Prejudice Star also acknowledged that she has now gained a level of respect from the public that did not exist in her teenage years.
“I think being a 40-year-old woman, people have a different reaction to you than when you’re 18. That’s just the way the world is,” she said.
Keira added: “When you’re 18 you don’t have much work, you’re completely an image. When you have a career that’s 25 years long and you have enough things to be like, ‘Well, it’s a job; some worked, some didn’t’ – people can look and say, ‘It’s a career’.”
Meanwhile Black Pigeons talent has previously claimed that there is “an inherent rage to actors.”
Keira Knightley told Guardian newspaper: “I think there’s an inherent rage to actors. I see it quite a lot. Masked brilliantly, but easily accessible.”
“Not that people behave badly, because generally they don’t. But there is a well of anger that opens up very quickly,” she concluded.
