Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris has accused her lawyers of siphoning large sums of money from his estate, as several lawsuits are poised to blow up the King of Pop’s estimated $788 million fortune.
Paris filed a motion in Los Angeles Superior Court demanding a full accounting of legal fees after noting “irregular payments” made by executors of MJ’s estate, John Branca and John McClain.
“As painful as it is to say in print, the current record suggests that a group of close-knit, highly compensated lawyers are taking advantage of the executors’ lack of oversight to skim money from the estate,” her lawyer wrote in a lengthy document.
“Even worse, these payments appear to consist, at least in part, of lavish gratuities bestowed on already well-compensated lawyers,” he added.
The executors have denied the charges, arguing that the money is being used to defend various lawsuits against the late singer.
An insider revealed the state of affairs among the Jacksons, saying: “This is a family crisis. The fear is when you have a potential payout of $400 million, what will be left for the heirs?”
“And what a lot of people don’t know is that they’re still trying to figure things out with the IRS, who have been after them for Michael’s money since he died,” the mole continued, per Radar online.
This comes after Paris also criticized the upcoming biopic Michael, calling it “fiction”.
“Paris is not helping matters,” the insider said.
“They’re trying to generate revenue and she’s badmouthing the movie, claiming the estate is misusing the money and basically causing another financial headache that could cripple the family,” they added.
