ISLAMABAD:
A gas explosion in the Supreme Court’s basement canteen on Tuesday left 12 people injured, two of them in critical condition, prompting a rapid rescue and evacuation operation.
According to initial reports, the explosion occurred in the air conditioner installed in the basement of the canteen, shaking parts of the building and forcing lawyers and court personnel to rush outside for safety.
Rescue teams immediately arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Rescue officials said the explosion was caused by a leak in the AC gas system, which ignited during maintenance work.
