Walt Disney Animation Studios’ next feature film is fast approaching, or shall we say jumping towards, its theatrical release date. Almost a decade after the original, Zootopia 2 hits theaters on November 26, 2025. But ahead of the film’s release, Disney Animation and Walt Disney Imagineering are teaming up to celebrate another major milestone: an all-new theme park experience.
Opens November 7, 2025, inside the Tree of Life Theater at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom, Zootopia: Better Zoogether! is a groundbreaking 4D attraction that immerses guests in the bustling, animal-filled metropolis, complete with animation by the same team as the film, paired with brand new animatronics from Imagineering. It’s not another Walt Disney; this time it’s Benjamin Clawhauser from the movie.
The new show reunites much of the creative team and animation talent behind it Zootopia 2 and even have the same voice cast. Fans can also expect a few surprises, including a sneak peek at some of the new districts in the upcoming film.
Reflecting on returning to Judy Hopps, Goodwin shared, “It was amazing to revisit something honestly so much later, like the fact that it’s been almost a decade.” To prepare for filming, she re-listened instead of re-watching the first film “over and over and over” to recapture her character’s voice and spirit.
Goodwin added that working with Disney always provides a sense of creative freedom: “They want you to give it your all.”
IN Zootopia 2Judy once again teams up with Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) on a mysterious new case – one that centers on a never-before-seen reptilian character. We asked Bush what to expect from the sequel, and he said the new story will be relevant today, years ago or years into the future – “things that will always resonate no matter when or where”.
It reminds of the first one Zootopia story, he said, is about using animals “to look at human nature.”
Premiere of a new frame ahead of the film
Bush also highlighted the partnership between Animation Studios and Imagineering. Zootopia: Better Zoogether! not only looks like it’s part of Zootopia universe, but it also debuts with a setting from the sequel before it hits the big screen. The new Marsh Market Area really comes to life in 4D as the show can bring you there using some water features.
“Early on, when we knew this is going to be a 4D attraction and that they have things that can spray you, we said we have this new environment for semi-aquatic animals,” Bush explained, noting that they shared early looks at it with Imagineers. The fact that the timing worked two weeks in advance was “absolutely crazy.”
Bush shared that the animators used the same tools when working on the attraction as they did in the film, with the main adjustment being an added dimension of immersion. In our view of the attraction, the art is fluid and looks identical to the movie art.
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “stereo team” – also known as the 3D team – traditionally works with the elements of 3D that appear in a typical movie theater, but for the 4D theater at Disney Park, they pushed far beyond that.
Together, it’s clear that Goodwin is excited to return to a beloved character and franchise, while Bush, one of the film’s original writers and now head of Walt Disney Animation Studios, shares that excitement — not just for the release of Zootopia 2but also for the unique partnership behind an attraction that immerses guests directly in the world of the film.
