Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed on Friday that Pakistan was keen to promote cooperation with Iran in areas of mutual interest, including economic development and bilateral trade.

He spoke with the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf who called on him along with the delegation at PM House.

The Prime Minister stated that both countries condemned state-sponsored terrorism and have always supported each other in the wake of unilateral aggression against their sovereign states.

He added that both countries had unfortunately fallen victim to terrorism and therefore firmly share the resolve for global peace, prosperity and positive cooperation in the region. “Pakistan and Iran are determined to work in unity and cooperation for the unity of the Ummah.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday also welcomed Google’s decision to set up offices and invest in Pakistan, terming the establishment of Google’s product assembly line in Haripur as a positive development.

The international IT companies like Google express confidence in the government’s policies aimed at promoting ease of doing business and investment in Pakistan, the Prime Minister said in a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to the overseas Pakistanis as foreign remittances crossed $3.4 billion, an increase of 11.9 percent in October.

The prime minister said in a statement that a consistent increase in remittances reflected the confidence expatriates had in government policies.

“Overseas Pakistanis are our invaluable assets who serve the nation and the country by sending their hard earned money,” he noted.
