Pak envoy, US official discuss steps to deepen bilateral ties

Ambassador Sheikh meets with Assistant Secretary Kapur as both sides reaffirm their commitment to sustained engagement

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, met Assistant Secretary of the Office of South and Central Asian Affairs Paul Kapur at the State Department on Saturday. The meeting was announced by both officials on X (formerly Twitter).

The dignitaries “discussed ways to advance US-Pakistan relations,” Kapur’s tweet said.

Similarly, Sheikh explained in his own tweet that the two discussed “ways and means of translating that determination – expressed at the leadership level” to develop US-Pakistan ties into what is an economically anchored strategic partnership.

This, Sheikh said, can be done through “sustained engagement in multiple domains of common interest.”
