VisionQuest must end the Marvel story that began with WandaVision and continued in Agatha all the time.
Below I have gathered the biggest and latest information about Disney+ show trilogy capper, including its confirmed cast, possible plot details and my release date prediction. So here’s everything we know so far about the Vision star production.
VisionQuest release date prediction

VisionQuest doesn’t have an official release date yet, but it will land on Disney+ sometime next year.
It is a project that has been in development for some time. Reports first surfaced in May 2024 that Marvel was making another WandaVision spin-off – the first, Agatha all the timedebuted last September. Filming took place between March and July 2025, so the series’ post-production phase is well underway at this point.
As for when it might arrive, a late 2026 release window seems like a safe bet. Wonder Man and Daredevil: Born Again season 2 drops next January and March, respectively, while X-Men 97 season 2 is set for a mid-2026 launch. In my opinion, that means VisionQuest see you until *ahem* next September.
VisionQuest trailer: is there one?
No. The first footage was shown at NYCC 2025 but has not been released to the public.
Nevertheless, I expect Marvel to drop a teaser at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2026 or at next year’s D23 Expo in August. When one is released I will update this section.
VisionQuest cast: confirmed and rumored
Major spoilers follow WandaVision and Avengers: Infinity War. Possible spoilers also follow VisionQuest.
Here’s the show’s confirmed cast so far:
- Paul Bettany as White Vision
- James Spader as Ultron
- James D’Arcy as JARVIS
- Orla Brady as FRIDAY
- Emily Hampshire as EDITH
- Henry Lewis as DUM-E
- Jonathan Sayer as U
- Todd Stashwick as Paladin
- Ruaridh Mollica as Thomas Shepherd
The most obvious actor to start with is Bettany. The Englishman has played Vision since the superpowered humanoid’s live-action debut in 2014 Avengers: Age of Ultron. But after the character’s death at the hands of Thanos in 2018 Avengers: Infinity Warit seemed in Bettany’s time The MCU had come to an end.
Not so. Bettany returned to play two versions of Vision in WandaVisionaka one of the best Disney+ shows, in early 2021. One was a fictional version of Vision that a grief-stricken Wanda Maximoff inadvertently created by using her powers after-Avengers: Endgame. The other – aka White Vision – is a reprogrammed version of the real Vision’s soulless body, which was revived by the nefarious government agency known as SWORD
WandaVision‘s final climax saw White Vision regain his original memories from the Wanda-created iteration before flying off to an unknown whereabouts.
Look at
White Vision is to be the main character VisionQuestbut he won’t be the only android, robot or artificial intelligence to appear in this Marvel Phase 6 TV show.
Spader, who played the menacing Ultron in the second Avengers film, will reprise his role as the villainous android despite his death at the hands of Vision in Age of Ultron. It’s unclear what role he’ll play here, but Variety has reported that Ultron will appear in his original form and as a human character.
Human versions of Tony Stark/Iron Man’s first AI assistant JARVIS, its successor FRIDAY and EDITH – the AI program in the sunglasses Stark posthumously gave to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home – is also set to join, according to Variety.
Elsewhere, Lewis and Sayer have lent their voices to two robots in DUM-E and U. The silent machines helped Stark create his various Iron Man suits in the superhero’s solo film trilogy, so it will be fascinating to see how and why they can speak now.
As for the final two cast members, their characters are fully rooted in spoiler-based territory. If you don’t want to know what role they will play, skip to the next section or leave this page now because potentially major spoilers immediately follow before VisionQuest. Full spoilers are coming before Agatha all the time and Doctor Strange 2also.
According to industry leaker DanielRPK (via Reddit ), Paladin is an assassin who will pursue White Vision for his advanced technology. Until recently, Stashwick’s involvement was a rumor, but showrunner Terry Matalas confirmed he’s part of the proceedings at Creation Entertainment Con (thanks to ParksandCons for the find).
Meanwhile, fans believe that Mollica’s Thomas Shepherd is a pseudonym and that he is actually playing Speed, aka Tommy Maximoff, who is one of Wanda and Vision’s twin sons.
Tommy was last seen in WandaVision (albeit as a child) and referenced by Wiccan, alias Billy Maximoff, i Agatha all the time. In fact, Billy’s entire storyline in that TV show was based around tracking down Tommy. As I covered in my Agatha all the time finalist explains, that series ended with Billy—plus the ghost of Agatha Harkness in tow—continuing the search for his sibling.
It is therefore possible that Billy and Agatha, played by Joe Locke and Kathryn Hahn respectively, could also appear in VisionQuest.
Locke’s involvement also sounds likely. During a chat with fans about Clarkstona stage play Locke and Mollica are involved in, its director Jack Serio let slip that the actors were filming scenes together for a project where they play brothers (thanks to X/Twitter user sand12345678901 for the tip). Coincidence? I don’t think so.
VisionQuest however, won’t it be a full family reunion without Elizabeth Olsen showing up as Wanda, will she show up? Wanda – also known as the Scarlet Witch – apparently died in the 2022s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But considering we didn’t see one of the MCU’s most powerful beings actually perish, there’s a good chance she’s still alive. Don’t bet on Olsen showing up.
Finally, Deadline has claimed T’Nia Miller (Foundation, The Fall of the House of Usher) is secretly involved as Jocasta. In the comics, she is an android originally built to be Ultron’s wife. However, Jocasta rebels against her supervillain status and ends up becoming an ally with The Avengers, so it will be interesting in the end to see how and why she is involved.
Speculation of VisionQuest history
Possible spoilers follow VisionQuest.
VisionQuests plot map has yet to be revealed, but some broad story lines have emerged recently, including the fact that as of website for production designer Will Hughes-Jones, it will include eight episodes.
Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes at NYCC 2025, Bettany revealed that it is set one year after WandaVision. And during Marvel’s panel at the conference, Bettany dropped more hints about his plot.
“What’s different about Vision right now is that Red Vision gave White Vision all of his memories, including the memories from inside the Hex,” he said “per Marvel.com) “But White Vision has a really hard time connecting to them, so he has the memories, but he doesn’t have the emotions and the feelings, and I think that’s what the journey is. White Vision’s journey throughout the show is about him trying to connect to those memories and who he was…but with lasers!”
Paul Bettany talks about what he’s excited to explore in #VisionQuest @comicconla: “It’s about intergenerational trauma…fathers and sons and denial of pain and denial of your own truth and coming to terms with who and what you are.” pic.twitter.com/LOmTfGlyeb28 September 2025
Elsewhere, Matalas suggested when speaking on the Katie Sackhoff Show VisionQuest providing the opportunity to “elevate” MCU canon and/or even course-correct specific characters’ journeys. Predictably, Matalas also dodged a question about Wanda’s possible appearance and the true identity of Mollica’s character.
Given the internal struggle that White Vision will be plagued with in the show’s early entries, it wouldn’t be a shock if VisionQuest follows WandaVision‘s lead role and sees its titular character create his own pocket reality. If that happens, the show could pick up elements from Tom King’s 12-issue ‘Vision’ comic series, such as creating its own stand-in family that includes wife Virginia and teenage twins Viv and Vin.
How will VisionQuest set up future MCU projects
No one outside of Marvel Studios knows the answer to that question.
It’s safe to assume, though VisionQuest will make his Disney+ bow before Avengers: Doomsdaythe second and final MCU film from 2026, lands in theaters. There is a slight chance Vision could feature, despite Bettany not being part of March’s initial 27-strong Doomsday cast message.
If Vision doesn’t appear in Avengers 5, he’s definitely someone who should appear in its sequel Avengers: Secret Wars. Should Bettany stick around after-Avengers 6he may even help co-found the MCU’s version of the West Coast Avengers if that’s a storytelling direction Marvel chooses to go in.
In short, I don’t think so VisionQuest will be the last time we see Bettany in the MCU. Where he will appear next is up for debate though.
