ISLAMABAD:
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met on Thursday with the Director General of the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA), Graeme Biggar, to discuss enhanced bilateral cooperation in key areas of security and law enforcement.
The meeting held in Islamabad was also attended by British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, National Coordinator of NACTA, DG NCCIA, DG National Forensic Agency, Additional Home Secretary, Chief Commissioner Islamabad and IG Islamabad Police.
Both sides held detailed discussions on strengthening cooperation in counter-terrorism, drug control, prevention of human trafficking, forensics, immigration and police training. They agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation on training programs for officers of Pakistan’s anti-narcotics and law enforcement agencies.
A joint decision was made to improve coordination to curb the online exploitation of children. The two sides also agreed to expand bilateral assistance on extradition issues.
It was decided that five memoranda of understanding (MoUs) covering extradition and other sectors of cooperation between Pakistan and the UK will be finalized soon.
DG Graeme Biggar condemned the recent suicide attack in Islamabad and expressed grief over the loss of life.
“The roots of terrorism are linked to our neighboring country,” Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to eradicate terrorism. “The world cannot ignore Pakistan’s resilience and determination in this struggle,” he added.
