I’m sorry Peacock has cancelled Poker Face after two seasons, per reports before the Deadline.
Poker Face has been a great success for Rian Johnson. It received six Emmy nominations and one win and quickly became my favorite Natasha Lyonne series after Netflix Russian doll.
They said: “We’ve been germinating this next move together since we wrote the season 2 finale.
“We love our Poker Face and this is the perfect way to keep it rolling. Give us a beat and we might see Charlie Cale again down the open highway.”
It seems Johnson doesn’t want to stop at Dinklage either, with Deadline reporting, “Long term, Johnson’s hope is for the franchise to evolve with a new actor to play the main character every two years.”
I am uncertain about the future of Poker Face
Look at
I loved the first two seasons of Poker Facebut I’m worried if a brand new cast would be as good as the original. We’ve seen Rian Johnson change up his cast a lot with people like Knives outand he recently admitted that he knew the perfect follow-up to Wake up, dead manwhere the lineup is likely to change again.
But I’m worried Poker Face is not going to work without Lyonne’s brilliant performance. Part of me wonders if they should make a whole new character instead of trying to reinvent a new one.
So far we do not know about the new version of Poker Face will move on, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens. However, I’m not convinced it will be as good after falling in love with Lyonne’s portrayal of Charlie, so although I’m sad Poker Face has been cancelled, I also feel very apprehensive about a revival series.
As always, I’m happy to eat my words, but I don’t think this is the right move for Peacock series and I would have liked to see season three instead.
