Eddie Murphy didn’t talk about a loss that felt deeply personal.

In his documentary film Being Eddie, the comedian addressed how he felt about not taking home the Oscar Dream girls.

As fans will be aware, the actor was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in 2007 but lost to Alan Arkin.

After reflecting on the experience, he said that if he left him behind, he felt annoyed.

“Not winning an Oscar or not winning anything is not the evil for me. The scary thing for me is that I dress up and get to the point, because I wouldn’t normally go to awards shows,” Murphy reasoned.

“It’s… every time I lose, I’m like, ‘These m************ got me all the way down.’ I could have lost weight at home. I’m totally into that damn tuxedo. What a… waste of time. I’m never like, “Oh, I didn’t win.” I’m like, ‘Hey, make me come down here for nothing?'”

Despite the frustration, Murphy insisted he remains unfazed by awards.

“It’s always wonderful to win things, but if I don’t win, I don’t give a ***. I still come home and it’s… I’m still Eddie in the morning.”
