- Samsung has teamed up with British Gas on a new tariff
- This gives you a 50% discount on electricity between 11.00 and 16.00 at the weekend
- You must own or purchase an eligible Samsung product from a retailer in England, Scotland or Wales
Thinking of buying a Galaxy smartphone or other Samsung device at a discount for Black Friday? Those who own or are about to buy a Samsung product and are also with British Gas in the UK (or sign up with the energy provider) can take advantage of some big savings on their electricity bill this weekend.
This comes courtesy of a new tariff called the Samsung Weekend Saver Fix, which gets you half price electricity between 11am and 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
It’s an extension of an existing UK gas tariff called PeakSave, which offers 50% off your electricity on Sundays at the times mentioned, but with the new tariff in partnership with Samsung, you’ll also get this on Saturday – doubling your weekend savings.
Well, in theory anyway, but of course it depends on how much electricity you actually get through on the respective days.
So how does this work and what do you need to qualify?
Obviously, you’ll need to be signed up to British Gas or switch providers to get one of its tariffs. So, to qualify for the Samsung Weekend Saver Fix tariff, you must own or purchase an eligible Samsung product within the next year, until October 31, 2026. You must also have a smart meter and a Samsung account.
You can apply for the Samsung tariff by logging into the said Samsung account and clicking on the link to the British Gas Samsung Tariff page.
Only one rate can be associated with any given Samsung product, and devices purchased through an auction site (such as eBay) or third-party seller (such as Amazon Marketplace) do not count – so no used or refurbished devices qualify. You must have purchased the product new from a retailer in England, Scotland or Wales (Northern Ireland is unfortunately excluded).
For a list of the products that are eligible, see Samsung’s list (where you’ll also find the full terms and conditions of this offer). These products include Galaxy phones and tablets, Samsung appliances, TVs, monitors, sound bars and air source heat pumps among other hardware.
It should be noted that this offer replaces the PeakSave tariff, for those who already subscribe to the latter – the savings are not cumulative (nor can you combine this tariff with other offers from British Gas).
As a final note, those who take up the Samsung Tariff before the end of 2025 will be entered into a draw to select three prize winners who will receive a payment of £1,755 each (the average cost of electricity bills for a year in the UK). That drawing will take place on January 14, 2026. Good luck!
