- Say hello to the new TRIBIT PocketGo Bluetooth speaker
- It offers a compact, affordable, lightweight, waterproof form factor
- Battery life is rated at 20 hours at 50% volume
If you’re looking for one of the best Bluetooth speakers on the market, you now have a new model to consider: the TRIBIT PocketGo. The palm-sized speaker is on sale now for just $34.99 / £29.99 (with availability in Australia still to be confirmed).
With dimensions of 108mm x 81mm x 42mm (4.3in x 3.2in x 1.7in) and a rugged, waterproof design, the speaker this most reminds us of is the JBL Go 4 – right down to the hanging loop on the corner.
Despite its small size, the TRIBIT promises big sound from the PocketGo: its 45mm driver and 7W sound output are apparently enough to deliver a “mighty sound”, with a maximum connection range of 50 meters (over 164 feet).
It’s very much designed to take anywhere, with a weight of 220 grams (7.8 ounces), IP68 protection against water and dust, and a drop-proof rating of 1.22 meters (that’s 4 feet). This is not a speaker you should handle with care.
Battery life and more features
For a portable speaker like this, battery life is key. TRIBIT claims the PocketGo can last up to 20 hours if you play audio at 50% volume. It has a built-in battery with a capacity of 2,400 mAh, with a full charge taking about three hours via USB.
Other features to know about include the integrated memory card reader for offline music playback, True Wireless Stereo (TWS) support so you can pair two of these for stereo sound, and voice control via a built-in microphone.
It supports the latest Bluetooth 6.0 standard for improved sound quality and connection stability, and will even float if you put it in the pool – so it’s perfect for blasting some tunes on a lazy day on holiday.
Since we haven’t tested it ourselves, of course we can’t comment on the sound quality – but on paper it sounds worth a look for your next portable speaker. The price is particularly attractive and undercuts many of its direct competitors.
