Taylor Swift fans had already crowned Ophelia’s fate as song of the year, and used it for choreography, social media trends and more, but the pop icon turned it up a notch.
The 35-year-old pop superstar took to Instagram and revealed a remix of the song featuring none other than DJ band, The Chainsmokers.
The Opalite hitmaker released the new club-rock version unannounced, taking fans back to 2016.
The new version quickly climbed the charts, reaching number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the original version has topped the global Spotify charts for 52 days, leaving behind all the records.
Swift’s official management account, Taylor Nation, celebrated the release on Instagram, citing the song as “wrapping around us like a chain, a crown, a wine.”
The Chainsmokers shared their excitement in the comments, writing: “This is real and honor. We love you.”
As Swifties flocked to social media to express their delight and surprise, with one writing on X, “Taylor Swift dominated the music industry and now a remix with the chainsmokers? close enough welcome back 2015.”
Another echoed: “It’s like both of my obsessions combined. I love love love this!!!!!” and “OMG IT’S A BANGER,” read a third.
“I never expected a Taylor Swift-Chainsmokers collaboration to happen in this lifetime,” remarked one surprised Swiftie, while another declared, “Remix of the year.”
