Political figures across Pakistan on Saturday reaffirmed the country’s support for the Palestinian cause as the nation celebrated the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. They called for immediate international action to implement a two-state solution and ensure justice for the Palestinians.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led the messages of support, with the president saying that Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian cause is rooted in universal values of human dignity, justice and fairness.
“Pakistan has consistently condemned the atrocities of the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza and has raised its voice for the Palestinians at all forums,” President Zardari said, pledging to continue extending political, diplomatic, humanitarian and moral support to the Palestinians.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said the Palestinian people have endured one of the most devastating tragedies of our time, adding that their courage is a testament to the indomitable human spirit. “Pakistan remains firmly committed to a just, lasting and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue based on relevant UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions,” he said.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized that it has become imperative for the international community to take decisive steps to implement the two-state solution and to transform the recent Gaza ceasefire into sustainable peace.
“The tribulations facing Palestine are deep wounds on the collective conscience of humanity,” Bilawal said, adding that the loss of every innocent life and the destruction of every home under the ongoing occupation is a call to the world to play its part with moral courage and justice.
He added that his party will continue to raise its voice for the Palestinians’ inalienable right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif highlighted the humanitarian crisis that Palestinian citizens do not even have access to basic human rights such as food, medical treatment, clean water, shelter and security.
She called for immediate steps to ensure sustainable peace and justice for the Palestinian people and urged the international community to fulfill its obligations under international law.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that the Palestinians are fighting a war for the defense of their land while the overwhelming Israeli state is committing crimes against humanity.
CM Murad stressed that Israeli atrocities continue despite the ceasefire agreement and called on mediators to play their role. “The international world cannot ignore Israeli crimes against Palestine,” he said, calling on the United Nations to take action to stop the genocide.

He praised the steadfastness and bravery of the Palestinian people as an example to the whole world and assured that diplomatic, moral and political support for the oppressed Palestinian people will continue.
The messages came as Pakistan joined the international community in observing the UN-designated day, with political leaders across the spectrum stressing the country’s unwavering support for Palestinian self-determination and statehood.
