NEW Strands today (game #639) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #639, are…
- JUMPING
- HOUSE
- HUNTERS
- WIDOW
- EXIT
- TARANTULA
- SPANGRAM: Spiders
- My assessment: Hard
- My score: 1 tip
I once had a severe allergic reaction to a bite from a number of RECLUSE spiders when I was on a trip to Venice. This caused my legs to swell and left me with what looked like large bruises. In Italy they call them violin spiders, which makes them sound quite talented.
Anyway, I digress. It probably says a lot about our modern age that my first thought on seeing the theme “on the web” was the internet, rather than SPIDERS. Even after getting JUMPING, I thought “what does this have to do with websites?”
A hint gave me HUS and I was finally on my way, feeling a bit of a fool after seeing the spanram.
By the way, did you know that a JUMPING spider can jump 50 times its body length, which is equivalent to a human jumping to the top of an eight-story building.
Yesterday’s NYT Strand’s Answer (Monday, December 1st, Game #638)
- JOKING
- PUK
- STICK
- GOAL
- Scoreboard
- ZAMBONI
- SPAN FRAME: HOCKEY RINK
