LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court has been approached to challenge the ordinance issued to allow kite flying in Punjab.
The petition was filed by advocate Azhar Siddique, chairman of Judicial Activism Panel an NGO.
According to the petitioner, the ordinance regarding kite flying was issued on the instructions of Nawaz Sharif and is against the constitution.
The petition claims that giving permission to Basant poses a serious threat to human life as previous festivals have resulted in several deaths. The petitioner has requested the court to suspend the implementation of the regulation until the legislation is passed by the provincial assembly.
