Jessie J reveals her cancer could come back despite successful surgery

Jessie said she feels “super lucky” that her cancer was caught early

Jessie J has revealed there is still a chance her cancer could return as she opened up about the emotional moment she shared with her mum after receiving her diagnosis.

The 37-year-old singer announced in June that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and later underwent a mastectomy followed by reconstructive surgery.

While Jessie said she feels “super lucky” that her cancer was caught early, she admitted there is still a chance it could come back.

The star also revealed that her mother was the first person she called after hearing the devastating news and shared the heartbreaking words she told her in that moment.

“I remember calling my mom first and I said, ‘Well, I can’t die because I have Skye,'” Jessie shared ABC News.

Discussing her battle with cancer, Jessie said: ‘I’ve been really lucky, super lucky, to find it so early.

‘It wasn’t invasive – thank God. I know there is a chance it could come back, but until then we live life.’

Jessie, who is now a mother-of-one, compared her cancer operation to an episode of Black mirror.

The pop star explained that she hates being put under general anesthesia and admitted that the feeling reminds her of the eerie, surreal scenarios depicted in the hit Netflix sci-fi series.
