In North Waziristan’s Mir Ali area, a government primary school was destroyed in an overnight explosion, affecting more than 600 students and disrupting education in the region.

In Mir Ali tehsil of North Waziristan, unknown gunmen blew up the government primary school in Ayaz Kot area of ​​Khushhali village late last night. The explosion destroyed a large part of the school building.

According to government education department sources, more than 600 children were enrolled in the school, which was the only functioning primary institution in the area. Officials have cordoned off damaged parts of the building and are considering alternative arrangements to continue education.

Local elders and parents expressed concern over the attack, stressing its impact on children’s education. A local elder said: ‘This school was the only beacon of hope for the children in the whole area. Its destruction has shocked us all.’

Security officials said the area has been cordoned off and a search is underway. No group has claimed responsibility. Describing the attack as an anti-education act, the district administration added, “Such attacks hinder peace and development in the region and those responsible will soon be brought to justice.”

Police sources said evidence has been collected and the bomb disposal unit’s report is awaited to ascertain the type of explosive used. Initial findings suggest that the explosion may have been triggered by a remote-controlled or time-controlled device.
