The highway police respond quickly, regulate traffic and prevent further accidents
An oil tanker overturned near Nooriabad, Karachi, on the M-9 highway, disrupting traffic on Friday morning. The accident caused a major oil spill, leading to major delays in both directions.
The spill of oil caused the road to become slippery, resulting in significantly reduced speeds. The track was completely restored to traffic by the South Zone National Highways and Motorways Police (NHMP).
According to the spokesman, there have been no reports of injuries or casualties in the incident.
After receiving reports, the National Highways and Highways Police arrived at the spot. Police regulated traffic and diverted vehicles safely.

According to the rescue authorities, the overturned tanker was righted with the help of heavy machinery and efforts to clean up the spilled oil are underway. Officers spread soil over the spilled oil to absorb it and dry the road.
The spokesperson of the highway police stated that the traffic near Nooriabad is now fully restored and they are always ready to deal with any emergency situations.
In December 2024, a trailer had hit an oil tanker from behind on the Native Jetty bridge. As a result, the oil in the tanker spilled, making the road dangerously slippery. The traffic police and other teams of law enforcement agencies reached the spot and closed the road to all vehicular traffic.
