Terrorists from “Fitna-al-Khawarij” attacked the Sheikh Landak checkpoint in the jurisdiction of Hovid police station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu, according to District Police Officer (DPO) Yasir Afridi.
‘Fitna-al-Khawarij’ is the state-designated term for terrorists associated with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Police personnel opened retaliatory fire and thwarted the attack in which several terrorists were reportedly killed or injured. Five policemen were also injured and shifted to the hospital.

After the attack, DPO Afridi reached the spot with additional personnel. He cordoned off the area and launched a search operation for the terrorists.
DPO Afridi later visited the hospital to check on the injured personnel. He reviewed the medical facilities made available to them.

Deputy Inspector General Sajjad Khan and DPO Afridi have praised the bravery of the personnel for foiling the terrorist attack. They stated that Bannu Police have once again proved that they stand as a wall against the enemies of peace. DPO Afridi added that the war against terrorism will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated.
The attack comes amid repeated terrorist attacks in the province. On November 24, security forces in Bannu killed 22 Indian-sponsored terrorists in an intelligence-led operation. Four days earlier, seven terrorists linked to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacked a peace committee office in Bannu, killing seven people.
