The mystery surrounding the alleged abduction of a Lahore-based sub-inspector’s wife and minor daughter ended on Saturday after police arrested the officer and he confessed to killing both victims and filed a false kidnapping case.
According to police sources, Muhammad Usman Haider, formerly posted as DSP Investigation Kahna, admitted during interrogation that he had murdered his wife and daughter following a prolonged domestic dispute.
After the incident, he filed a fake first information report (FIR) at Barki police station, claiming that they had been abducted.

The FIR stated that the DSP’s wife and daughter had gone missing on September 27, while a written application for registration of the kidnapping case was filed on October 18.
The police started the investigation after the case was registered, while the victim’s sister also approached the authorities and expressed suspicion that Usman was involved in their disappearance.
Forensic teams recovered blood samples from the suspect’s residence, particularly from the bed and the door. The lab reports raised further suspicions, prompting senior officers to confront the DSP during a high-level inquiry. “After being presented with the forensic findings, the suspect confessed to the crime,” a police officer said.
The bodies were later found in different places. Police said the daughter’s body was found in Kahna, while the wife’s body was found from Sheikhupura.
Investigators revealed that both had originally been buried as unidentified dead persons. Police said the motive for the crime appears to be a property dispute.

DSP had contracted two marriages and had bought a 10-marla plot in his first wife’s name. He later allegedly sold the plot without her consent and used the proceeds for his brother’s wedding, which reportedly led to frequent arguments.
During questioning, the suspect said he had killed his wife with a sharp weapon, which has since been recovered. Police said they were continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the daughter’s killing and whether any intermediaries were involved.
A relative of the suspect has also been taken into custody for questioning, while the DSP’s second wife has been involved in the investigation, police sources said.
A police spokesman said: “The accused will be prosecuted strictly on merit and punished in accordance with the law.”
