- The Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene is a new wet floor cleaner that joins the WashG1
- It is one of the lightest wet cleaners on the market
- There are no filters or dirty water pipes and it is self-drying for minimal maintenance
Wet floor cleaners are a great effort saver when it comes to the mopping part, but sometimes the maintenance of the appliance is demanding and disgusting enough that it’s barely worth it – and Dyson solves the problem with its new wet cleaner.
Clean+Wash Hygiene is an upgraded sister model to the Dyson WashG1, and it improves on that gadget in three main ways, two of which tackle the maintenance side of things, so less messy hands-on time is required of you. Let’s take a closer look…
1. There is no filter or hose to clean
For Clean+Wash Hygiene, the dirty water container is completely integrated into the floor head itself. There is no filter or any hose so the wet water can slowly clog. Keeping the internal mechanisms clean and free-flowing is one of the most significant and troublesome maintenance tasks associated with wet-dry vacuum cleaners, and Dyson has pretty much done away with them here.
The design of the WashG1 solves this problem: integrated into the floor head is a filter to collect solid dirt so it doesn’t have to go through any hose, and the dirty water tank is large and smooth on the inside, making it easy to reach in and clean it properly as needed. But this new setup looks even more relaxed – there’s no filter to clean at all.
Within the Dyson range, the setup is more similar to the standalone mop floor head that comes with the Dyson V15’s Detect Submarine. (I just hope it doesn’t have the same spillage problem we found with that design.)
2. It’s ultra-light
Some of the best wet and dry vacuum cleaners on the market are so heavy and unwieldy that using them is quite a workout. The WashG1 was relatively light, but the Clean+Wash Hygiene is even more so – in fact, Dyson says it’s the lightest option on the market (using data from the top three dedicated floor washing models from each of the top five brands globally), coming in at just 8.42 lbs / 3.82 kg.
Part of the weight savings is likely because this new model – like the WashG1 – has no suction. Instead, it just uses water and agitation to remove dirt and spills.
Clean+Wash Hygiene can also lie completely flat on the ground, for cleaning under low furniture. In this state, it is only 4.44 inches / 11.3 cm tall.
3. It cleans and dries its own roll
The WashG1 came with a self-wash mode that ran clean water through the system and over the roll. Clean+Wash Hygiene can also do that, but can also dry the roll with hot air, so you don’t have to take it off and put it somewhere after each cleaning.
This feature puts it more in line with the wider market – although in reality it’s still a bit behind the competition. I’m increasingly seeing self-cleaning modes that use hot water to cut through grease. However, the Clean+Wash Hygiene system will take the hard work out of mop maintenance for you.
What’s new?
There are other, smaller improvements that also look promising. As with the WashG1, the roll is supplied with fresh water as it rotates, while the dirty items are constantly sucked off. The roller here has been upgraded though – it’s more densely packed with fibers to make it more absorbent, and Dyson has added nylon bristles for extra scrubbing power.
Again, you have three hydration settings plus a Boost mode that delivers extra water. However, Dyson has adapted the delivery to enable the Clean+Wash Hygiene to clean a 20% larger space than its predecessor, despite having a smaller clean water tank (750ml versus 1L).
In addition, it can now be used together with Dyson’s on cleaning fluid, whereas previously the recommendation was only water. The new ‘Dyson 02 Probiotic’ is a non-foaming, non-toxic hard floor cleaning solution specially formulated to work with Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene.
Price & availability
The Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene is already on sale in the UK for a list price of £429.99. It should go on sale in the US and Australia in 2026, but I don’t have any details or pricing yet. I have one on the way, and I’ll update you with my thoughts once the full review embargo is lifted in early February.
It was only revealed amid a flurry of product announcements in September 2025. I’ve already reviewed the Dyson V16 Piston Animal flagship vacuum and the Dyson V8 Cyclone affordable stick vacuum, and I have the Dyson PencilVac in my review pile along with the Spot+Scrub AI robot vacuum’s new surprise, the Dyson Robot Vacuum.
