- Samsung has announced a new AI-powered refrigerator
- This is the first time we’ve seen Gemini on a device
- AI must save money and reduce food waste
AI chatbots continue to find their way into more and more devices, and Google Gemini is now on its way to refrigerators: it will appear in the new Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub, which Samsung will unveil at the CES 2026 exhibition in January.
According to Samsung (via Android Authority ), putting Gemini in the new fridge will “simplify everyday tasks” and “elevate the overall kitchen experience” — and based on some video demos, this might actually be something you want in your kitchen.
Gemini will be able to take advantage of a small camera inside the fridge to recognize types of food and how much of it you have. From there you can get advice on which dishes you can make, what to buy and when the food can start to run out.
Samsung has built this AI Vision into some of its refrigerators before, but with Gemini on board, the new model will be able to recognize a wider variety of foods more accurately, as well as return smarter answers to your queries.
Voice control and energy consumption

The built-in AI will also enable voice control – so you can politely ask the fridge to open the doors if your hands are full – and it’ll even manage energy consumption by adjusting internal cooling to suit how the fridge is used and how it’s stocked.
All this sounds positive, and should mean less food waste and lower electricity bills. You can see some of the features outlined in the demo video above, though it somewhat confusingly mentions Bixby, so maybe there’s some rebranding to be done there.
Samsung has also announced that Google Gemini will also make its way to a new bespoke AI wine cellar, which is based on similar ideas: AI can label and track your bottles and guide you to the perfect bottle for each meal.
CES 2026 will take place from January 6th to January 9th, and as usual will be held in Las Vegas. We’ll get to see a ton of new gadgets and devices at the event as the biggest companies in tech showcase their wares for the year ahead.
