KARACHI:
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced on Tuesday the completion of three landmark projects in partnership with Kuwait’s EnerTech Holding Company, representing investments worth over $740 million.
At a ceremony held at CM House, Shah said the province had crossed “historic milestones” under its public-private partnership (PPP).
These projects include the $215 million Nabisar-Vajihar Water Supply Scheme, which ensures sustainable water for Thar coal-fired power plants and enables 1,650 MW of generation, NED Science and Technology Park, Pakistan’s first university-led technology park under PPP, with an estimated cost of $125 million to promote research, start-up and industrial water treatment projects. Karachi, a $400 million initiative to provide industrial-grade treated water and address a long-standing gap in urban waste management.
The CM said these projects reflect Sindh’s commitment to infrastructure, energy security, innovation and environmental sustainability.
Shah noted that despite inflation and global economic pressure, the Nabisar-Vajihar project was completed on time, saving Rs 7 billion. He praised EnerTech CEO Abdullah Al-Mutairi for delivering on time and commended DIG Sukkur, DIG Larkana and other officials for their role in PPP results.
Speaking at the event, Al-Mutairi said Sindh’s PPP framework had proven its ability to deliver complex infrastructure projects. He called the Thar water supply a “game changer” for energy and industrial growth.
