Tell me lies season 3 finally arrives on January 13, 2026 and will stream on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus internationally. After two years of waiting, viewers will finally find themselves thrown back into the deep end of Lucy and Stephen’s excruciatingly toxic relationship in both their college and present-day timelines.
Based on the novel of the same name by Carola Lovering, two seasons have seen shocking twists and an even more shocking finale that is completely covered in red flags. Cheating, lying and manipulation are just some of the traits that both Lucy and Stephen possess – all of which affect not only them, but their college friends as well. It’s confusing to say the least.
So where will we pick up from in Season 3? Well, here’s everything we know so far, including release date, confirmed cast, plot synopsis and more.
Full spoilers follow Tell me lies seasons 1 and 2. Plus, potential spoilers for season 3.
Tell Me Lies Season 3 Release Date
Big news! Tell me lies season 3 will premiere on January 13, 2026, with the first two episodes on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus internationally. Six more episodes will stream weekly until the finale on February 24.
Following the show’s official season 3 renewal in December 2024, the cast and crew jumped into production in May 2025 and wrapped in October. So luckily that means we haven’t had to wait too long for a new season. And now it’s almost here.
Tell Me Lies season 3 trailer: is there one?
There is no Tell me lies season 3 trailer available to watch just now, but with the impending release, it could be coming any day now.
What we need to keep us going are the first look images scattered around this hub. I’ll be sure to update here with the trailer as soon as it drops.
Tell Me Lies Season 3 Cast Confirmed
It wouldn’t be Tell me lies season 3 without the main cast returning, but two new cast members have also been confirmed to join the show:
- Grace Van Patten as Lucy Albright
- Jackson White as Stephen DeMarco
- Catherine Missal as Bree
- Spencer House as Wrigley
- Sonia Mena as Pippa
- Branden Cook as Evan
- Alicia Crowder as Diana
- Tom Ellis as Oliver
- Natalee Linez as Lydia
- Iris Apatow as Amanda
- Costa D’Angelo as Alex
While the main cast returns, you’ll notice two new names on the roster who have been signed up for Season 3.
First, Deadline revealed in May 2025 that Costa D’Angelo would join as a series regular named Alex: “A psychology student and part-time drug dealer who has a complicated past with Bree. Although he initially comes off as aloof and borderline rude, it soon becomes clear that there are hidden depths to him.”
And in June, Deadline reported that Iris Apatow had also been cast in a recurring role in Season 3, playing Amanda: “a bubbly but fragile freshman harboring a big secret.”
Tell Me Lies Season 3 Synopsis and Story Rumors
Major spoilers follow Tell me lies season 1 and 2.
While Tell me lies started as an adaptation of Lovering’s novel of the same name, Season 2 expanded and diverged from the main path, adding new events and stories for viewers to follow.
So if you’re considering turning to the book for a sneak peek at season 3, keep in mind that at this point, it’s a loose adaptation.
Fortunately, we have an official Season 3 logline that gives us quite a bit of information about what’s to come: “Tell me lies season 3 follows Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco as they rekindle their tumultuous romance in time for the spring semester at Baird College.
“While they promise things will be different this time, past indiscretions thwart their best intentions and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy she wants nothing to do with.
“Meanwhile, the disastrous aftermath of the previous year also forces Lucy and Stephen’s friends to face their own destructive behavior. As scandalous secrets fester around campus, sinister consequences threaten Lucy and everyone in her circle.”
As if the scandal in the season 2 finale wasn’t enough. If you need a little reminder, at her wedding, Bree listened to a voicemail from Stephen telling her that Evan once cheated on her with Lucy. She knew he had been unfaithful, but not with her.
And while it will be addressed, showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer says it will be a surprise twist. Speaking exclusively to Teen Vogue, she explained: “I think the fallout from the answering machine is big and brutal and wild, but it does. not play out how people will anticipate.”
For season 3, executive producer Tyne Rafaeli also hinted that season 3 will turn up a lot of the show’s already sizzling drama: “It feels like the stakes of their decisions are much higher; the consequences of their decisions just feel more dangerous. They’re going into dark areas of sexual relationships and psychological relationships that I don’t think this show has yet.”
Oppenheimer adds that Season 3 will start in January 2009, as more of a “hostage situation”. Saying, “I feel like we’re answering the question of Stephen’s morality, to some extent, in a fun way that I think people will be surprised by.”
For Lucy this season, Oppenheimer explains that she: “has a reaction to shame that’s really deep and very, very dark. People will have very strong feelings about it. I don’t think everyone will like it. They’ll enjoy watching it, but I think some people will be offended. But I’m okay with that.”
But it is not only Lucy and Stephen’s relationship that tumultuously breaks through Tell me lies. Oppenheimer says the cast and crew “were most surprised by where Bree is going this season.”
In the Season 2 finale, aside from her wedding to Evan seemingly blowing up, Baird College timeline Bree had realized that Oliver was in an open marriage with Marianne, which, through all the validity of how Oliver actually felt about her, became emotional chaos.
There’s a lot to pick up in Season 3; The shocking death of Wrigley’s brother Drew, Pippa’s own personal journey to deal with the emotional toll her assault has taken on her, Bree’s crossroads in both past and present, and of course the toxic relationship between Stephen and Lucy. Fortunately, there is not a long wait.
Will there be more Tell Me Lies Season 4?
For anyone hoping for more seasons of Tell me liesI’m afraid there is some bad news.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tom Ellis was asked if Season 3 will be the last, to which he revealed, “I think so, yes. I think Meaghan [Oppenheimer] have written it to be the final season.”
And given that Meaghan is his real wife, it seems pretty likely that he would know what she was planning.
While that’s disappointing news for fans, he also added that Season 3 will be the “darkest season yet,” and it’s certainly one way to go out with a bang.
