All electric bus routes are live in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD:

On the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, all 21 routes of the electric bus service have been made fully operational under a project aimed at providing citizens with quality and affordable travel facilities. The electric bus service has received an overwhelmingly positive response from the public and the daily ridership is steadily increasing.

It was reported that 102,000 citizens used the electric bus service in a single day. This was said during a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa to review progress of ongoing and proposed development projects in Islamabad.

The meeting was attended by Member Administration Talat Mahmood, Member Engineering Nifasat Raza, Member Planning Dr. Khalid Hafeez, General Director Procurement and Contract, other senior officers and project directors of the relevant schemes. A detailed review of progress on various development projects across the city was conducted.

The meeting was informed that the construction of the electric bus depot, which includes two spaces, is almost complete, with approximately 97 percent of the work completed. It was also stated that the construction work on site A of the bus depot has been fully completed.

Progress on the project to connect Margalla Avenue with the M-1 Motorway was also reviewed. Similarly, detailed discussions were held on the construction of the Convention, Expo and Exhibition Centre, as well as the proposed luxury hotel project in Islamabad.
