Indonesian Defense Minister Field Marshal Asim Munir discusses bilateral security relations

Both sides emphasize strengthening institutional links, educational cooperation and defense industrial cooperation

Indonesian Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin (Retd) called on Chief of Army Staff and Defense Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to discuss strengthening defense ties, the military’s media wing said on Monday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the meeting focused on issues of common interest, evolving regional and global security dynamics and opportunities to strengthen bilateral security cooperation. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional relations, educational cooperation and defense industrial cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia.

According to the statement, the visiting dignitary praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He also expressed Indonesia’s desire to expand defense ties with Pakistan across multiple domains.

The ISPR added that Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to foster a strong and enduring defense relationship with Indonesia, based on shared values, mutual respect and convergence of strategic interests.
