- Kat Dennings says she’s not in it Avengers: Doomsday
- However, she revealed that after appearing as Darcy Lewis, Marvel scanned her so she is ‘in the system’
- It means ‘they could put me in anything they want’
While Marvel has already teased and confirmed much of the cast for the next big installment of the MCU, and we’ve been getting weekly teaser trailers confirming the mainstays returning to Avengers Doomsdayone actress is pretty sure she’s not in the movie—but she’s not making any bets.
speaks to Entertainment tonightsaid Kat Dennings, “I’m in the universe, and as you know, I can’t tell you anything, but I’m not in it. I mean, I’m not in it. And I’m telling you right now that I’m not in it. If I was in it, which I’m not, I couldn’t tell you, but I’m literally not.
“I’m sure they already filmed it. I was here, I’m not in,” she added. “But they scanned me, so to be honest they could put me in anything they want at this point. Who knows? I’m in the system!”
It’s a good bet – not only on some of the inner workings at Marvel, which loves to surprise audiences with cameos and guest appearances, as well as end-credits scenes – but also on how the proverbial cookie is made.
They scanned me so to be honest they could put me in anything they wanted at this point. Who knows? I’m in the system!
Cat Dennings
Dennings made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut back in 2013 in the Thor: The Dark Worldbut has also appeared in WandaVision – one of my all-time favorite Disney+ shows – and even appeared in the animated one What if…? All these appearances were a lovable scientist Darcy Lewis.
So the odds of Kat Dennings appearing in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’? 🤔 Not zero technically! pic.twitter.com/W4dQGHcIoI7 January 2026
Could Dennings appear in Avengers: Doomsday without the actress’s involvement, or even by visiting the set? It is possible, but unlikely. Historically, Marvel has not used these body scans without the direct involvement of the actor, and they are typically used to help complete virtual effects for the film.
Still, Dennings clearly points out that Hollywood’s approach to artificial intelligence is still evolving, with established studios taking different approaches compared to newcomers to the space. After all, 2025 brought us the idea – and release – of a completely AI-made actor or actress, to very mixed reactions.
Although we might hope that Darcy Lewis shows up in Avengers Doomsday – and Marvel may be pulling some smart PR moves here – right now, Dennings is not on the official cast list. It’s a lengthy one though, and I’ll give you a paragraph break before I mention a few of them to avoid spoilers…
From now on Avengers: Doomsday has one of the most stacked casts of any Marvel film yet, including Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU, not as Iron Man, but as Dr. Doom. In addition, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth return as Captain America and Thor, as well as a large part of the cast from Avengers: Endgame.
We will also see the cast of Fantastic Four: The First Steps join the roster as well as the X-Men into the fold. It’s likely to be a chaotic movie with a lot of action — and, par for the course with the MCU now, a lot of jumping between worlds, timelines, and ultimately universes.
Avengers Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, and you can check out our comprehensive guide to the movie. You can also get caught up on the MCU using one of the best streaming services, Disney+ – after all, you have plenty of time before Doomsday hits the silver screen.
