Strands is the NYT’s latest word game, following the likes of Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections – and it’s great fun. It can be difficult though, so read on for my Strands tips.

After getting the most obvious ear related words with DRUM, CANAL and LOBE I hit a wall and relied on hints to complete the game.
Even with a hint, I struggled with ANVIL and thought it was something like livna until I finally got it; if only I had spent more time examining cross-sections of ear parts.
In my long search for words that weren’t puns, I found HEAR, but couldn’t see that it was repeated. I hope I wasn’t the only person who did!
