Minister explains internet suspension

ISLAMABAD:

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry informed the Senate on Friday that the Universal Service Fund (USF) continues to expand telecommunication facilities in remote areas of the country.

Responding to various questions during Question Time, the minister said that temporary suspensions of internet and mobile services in some areas were imposed solely due to security concerns.

“These suspensions are very limited and strictly in the national interest,” he said, adding that the government had already ensured that data packages would not expire during such suspensions.
