- HBO has released a new ‘in the coming weeks’ trailer for A knight of the seven kingdoms
- It arrived after the premiere of the new Game of Thrones TV show
- The teaser contains some major spoilers for the high fantasy series
A new ‘in the coming weeks’ trailer has been revealed for A knight of the seven kingdoms (AKotSK) – and I am genuinely surprised at how much it destroys.
Released by HBO after the show premiered on 18/19. January, the two-minute teaser includes footage from all six of this season’s episodes. And while that doesn’t spoil one of the biggest revelations in The hedge knighti.e. the book, there AKoTSK season 1 adapts, the trailer doesn’t exactly hold its narrative cards close to its chest.

If you decided not to watch the above trailer for spoiler-based reasons, don’t worry, I won’t describe the footage in this article. That way you will be able to see Game of Thrones prequel’s plot unfolds as each new episode drops – be sure to read my AKotSK episode 1 guide to see when new chapters are released.
But I digress. Aside from a few major storytelling moments, it’s strange that the plot of the HBO Max TV Original’s debut season is pretty much laid out in full in the latest teaser trailer.
Granted, The hedge knight is not a very long book. At just 66 pages, the George RR Martin-penned short story, which is also the first entry in the acclaimed author’s literary ‘Dunk and Egg’ trilogy, doesn’t come close to matching the increasingly gargantuan tomes of Martin’s head Game of Thrones book series.
Given how long some of these novels are, there were plenty of story shockers and other big reveals that HBO could withhold from similar trailers that indicated what was to come in each of Game of Thrones‘ seasons. So it was not necessary to include the biggest ones in such a teaser.
Still, while the multi-award winning US TV network will have wanted to whet viewers’ appetites with this AKotSK season 1 trailer, I can’t help but think that it didn’t need to show, well, half the footage it does. Based on some of the YouTube comments written under this sizzling reel, it seems a few viewers are also confused by how much it destroys.
If you’re looking for less spoiler-heavy AKotSK content to check out, I’d suggest reading up on everything we know about A knight of the seven kingdoms and see why it was almost turned into the first Game of Thrones movie instead of a TV show.
When you’re done there, read my review A knight of the seven kingdoms to get a sense of what else is in store for Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg without, you know, spoilers.
