- Two new Insta360 cameras have been discovered
- These models have been teased by the Insta360 CEO
- There is plenty of speculation as to what they could be
We have Insta360 to thank for some of the best action cameras in the business – as well as several other innovative gadgets – and it looks very likely that we’ll have a few more cameras from the company to look forward to in the near future.
Insta360 CEO Jingkang Liu has taken to Chinese social media Weibo (via PetaPixel ) to share a teaser photo along with the caption “go to a new focus segment.” Sounds like an upcoming camera to us.
As pointed out by The New Camera, there are actually two unknown cameras in this image: the camera that we can see being used to frame a photo, and a second camera that is visible through the viewfinder of the first one.
We’re pretty used to rumors and teases and hints of Insta360 products by now, but this is kind of a hybrid combination of an official reveal and a product leak that we don’t often see, and we’re pretty curious as to what it could point to.
Camera spotting
The first camera in this image – the one used to frame and take a photo – looks like something Insta360 is currently making. PetaPixel speculates that it could be a compact fixed-lens camera along the lines of a Canon PowerShot.
We can see some controls around the side of the viewfinder, which include buttons to switch between video and photo modes and a play button to review videos and photos taken by whichever camera this is.
As for the second camera that the first mystery camera takes a picture of, The New Camera suggests that this is a pocket vlogging camera along the lines of the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 (with the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 waiting in the wings).
The latter camera is likely closer to launch – perhaps as early as February or March – while the compact digital camera is still in the prototype stage. It looks like it won’t be too long before we have more Insta360 cameras to enjoy.
