- Wonder Man‘s co-creator has revealed whether it puts some off Spider-Man 4‘s history
- Andrew Guest worked on the Disney+ show alongside Destin Daniel Cretton
- Cretton is the director of Spider-Man’s next big-screen adventure
Wonder Man‘s showrunner has weighed in on whether the new Marvel TV series is setting up events to enter Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Before Wonder Man premiered on Disney+, I sat down with Andrew Guest to discuss the cartoon giant’s latest TV offering. And since Guest co-created the show with Destin Daniel Cretton, who is also the director of Spider-Man’s next big-screen adventure, I had to find out if Wonder Man creates story threads that are part of Brand new day‘s overall narrative.
Full spoilers immediately follow before Wonder Man. Possible spoilers are also discussed before Spider-Man 4.
Given that Spidey can’t appear in live-action shows set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) without rights holders Sony saying so, it was almost impossible for him to make an unexpected cameo in Wonder Man. And with all eight episodes of the Marvel TV show dropping in full on launch day (January 27/28), we can confirm that Tom Holland’s wallcrawler will not appear in Wonder Man.
Nevertheless, there are signs that the MCU projects share some connective tissue where the headband ties Marvel phase 6 tv show and Spider-Man 4 together being the Department of Damage Control (DoDC).
Remember, the DoDC first appeared in an MCU production in 2017 Spider-Man: Homecoming. The group was short-lived in the 2021s Spider-Man: No Way Homealso with Agent Cleary, who also appears in Wonder Maninquire Parker and his friends to ends in 2019 Spider-Man: Far From Home.
The DoDC doesn’t seem to be done monitoring Spider-Man either. Leaked videos of Spider-Man 4 being filmed in late 2025, it appears to show the titular hero evading DoDC agents during a chase sequence, and later Spider-Man fleeing gun-wielding DoDC agents on a rooftop.
With Wonder Man continues the US agency’s pursuit and/or imprisonment of enhanced beings it deems to be a threat to public safety, it is clear that these projects are closely linked due to the DoDC’s involvement in their respective histories. However, while Guest seemed to suggest that this might be the case, he did not directly confirm that the events depicted in Wonder Man will affect the story told Brand new day.

“I mean, that’s a possibility,” Guest replied when I asked if the two Cretton-developed projects were connected. “I have not seen any material for it Spider Man 4 [but] I know Destin was a fan of the work we were doing Wonder Manso it’s natural to think that some of those ideas might have been in his head when he and the writer started working on the script for Spider Man 4.
“I think it’s a clear possibility that DoDC can find a way to do that,” he continued. “You know they were in too Spider Man 3so it makes sense, but we’ll have to wait and see [how connected these productions might be].”
