Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for his first state visit.
He arrived at Nur Khan Airbase and was received by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Kazakh president was accompanied by a high-level delegation of senior ministers and other officials.
He is expected to hold high-level meetings with senior officials and is also expected to address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously said that the visit will provide the two sides with an “important and timely opportunity to conduct a comprehensive review of bilateral relations”, discuss new avenues to expand cooperation, especially in trade, logistics, regional connectivity, people-to-people contacts, and explore cooperation in regional and international forums.
The FO had said the visit reflected the strengthened ties between the two countries, their mutual commitment to transform historical and cultural affinities into robust cooperation and their shared desire for peace and progress in the region.
