ISLAMABAD:
The Senate will convene on Thursday (today) evening for a crucial meeting that is expected to fast-track several amendments passed by the National Assembly, while lawmakers will also raise a number of issues of public importance during the session.
According to a 27-point agenda issued by the Senate Secretariat, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Interior Minister Senator Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar will present several bills for approval.
The Minister in charge of the Cabinet Department is expected to table a motion requesting the suspension of the notice period required under Rule 120 to allow bills approved by the National Assembly to be taken up immediately.
Several call notifications will also be prominent. Zeeshan Khanzada’s Notice of Interest and Bushra Anjum Butt’s Notice regarding the increasing incidence of heart disease associated with the consumption of industrially produced trans fats.
