Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fighting violent extremism, terrorism and hate-driven ideologies and stressed that the country would continue its national fight against all forms of extremism.

Highlighting Pakistan’s experience, he said the country had made unprecedented sacrifices over decades in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism. He stated that social justice, economic inclusion and interfaith harmony form the basis of sustainable peace, adding that global injustices, protracted conflicts and serious human rights violations contribute to the spread of extremism and violence.
Referring to unresolved disputes, he said situations in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, where innocent civilians face state repression and denial of basic rights, reflect extremist behaviour. He called on the international community to take effective steps towards just and peaceful solutions to such protracted conflicts.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan would continue to work with the international community through cooperation, partnerships and joint strategies to counter violent extremism and promote a just and peaceful global order. He concluded by calling for a collective commitment to build a peaceful, secure and harmonious society.
