ISLAMABAD:

The Senate on Friday referred an adjournment petition regarding the implications of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority’s (Nepra) prosumer regulation to the relevant standing committee.

The motion, moved by Senator Sherry Rehman under Rule 88 of the Rules and Procedures of the Senate, 2012, sought discussion on the regulation’s potential impact on Pakistan’s clean energy transition as well as the broader macroeconomic effects of continued reliance on expensive imported hydrocarbons. However, the chairman referred the matter to the relevant committee for further consideration.
