Strands is the NYT’s latest word game, following the likes of Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections – and it’s great fun. It can be difficult though, so read on for my Strands tips.

With HORSE, SNAKE and TIGER all simple corner finds, this was one of the easiest games in a while.
The spangram was also an easy spot thanks to it starting with a rare letter.
The Chinese lunar year of course starts today, with this year represented by the HORSE.
The circle of animals goes through 12 animals – four of which are too short for this game (Ox, Pig, Dog and Rat). ROOSTER, which also didn’t make the cut, will next screen in 2029, following GOAT (2027) and MONKEY (2028).

Strands is the NYT’s not-so-new-anymore word game, following Wordle and Connections. It’s now a full-fledged member of NYT’s game stable that’s been running for a year and can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
