President, Prime Minister rally Scouts for nation-building role

ISLAMABAD:

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have urged the Pakistani Scouts to come forward and support the government in confronting national challenges, natural disasters and any unforeseen situation the country faces.

In his message on World Scout Day, the President, who is the Chief Scout of Pakistan, emphasized the need to strengthen scouting activities so that the nation becomes greener, more climate resilient, drug free and digitally empowered.

World Scout Day is marked every year on 22 February to celebrate the birthdays of scout founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell and his wife Olave Baden-Powell.

In his message, Zardari extended warm congratulations to more than half a million scouts and leaders of the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association, acknowledging their continued commitment to community service and national development.

Prime Minister Shehbaz, in a separate announcement, said the day emphasized the positive and constructive role of the youth in the society, especially through effective use of their mental, physical and individual abilities.

He described the efforts of the 750,000 members of the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association to promote these goals as commendable.

World Scout Day is celebrated annually by millions of Scouts across the globe to honor the movement’s heritage, promote community service and reflect on the enduring values ​​of Scouting, reinforcing its relevance in addressing contemporary social and environmental challenges.
