Karachi put on high alert amid Operation Ghazab Lil Haq

Security tightened at entry points, airport; the police call for vigilance and warn against spreading rumours

Karachi has been put on high alert amid the Pakistan Army’s ‘Operation Ghazab Lil Haq’ against the Afghan Taliban, with police issuing a detailed public security advisory on Saturday.

Karachi Assistant Superintendent of Police, Azad Khan, directed heightened security measures across the metropolis following reports of escalating tensions between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban regime.

According to a city police spokesman, surveillance has been intensified while security has been further strengthened at key entry and exit points, major transport hubs and other sensitive installations to prevent potential security threats. Law enforcement agencies have also increased surveillance across key public and commercial areas.

The advisory urged citizens to remain vigilant and stay updated through official notices issued by police, law enforcement and provincial authorities. The public has been asked to immediately report any suspicious activity, unusual movement, unattended objects or suspicious persons in sensitive locations to Madadgar 15.

Citizens have been asked to strictly comply with instructions issued by the police and to cooperate fully during flash checks, search operations and at security checkpoints.

Police also warned against spreading unverified information on social media, adding that recent false reports about certain malls and commercial areas had caused unnecessary panic. Citizens were advised to rely only on official statements issued by the Sindh Police, the local administration or government press briefings.

Travelers have been advised to leave their homes at least an hour earlier than usual when going to the airport and other important locations. To reduce congestion, only one person accompanying a passenger will be permitted at designated airport and drop-off points.

All measures have been taken to ensure peace, stability and public safety, adding that law enforcement agencies remain fully prepared to respond to any threat.
