ISLAMABAD:

The National Assembly was informed on Thursday that the government is strengthening the blood transfusion monitoring system in an effort to control hepatitis.

Responding to a call for attention, the Parliamentary Secretary for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination said private clinics were also being monitored to ensure safe use of syringes and other medical equipment.

Dental clinics, which can also pose a risk of infection, were brought under stricter regulatory oversight.

He expressed hope that Pakistan will be able to eliminate hepatitis B and C by 2030.
