KARACHI:
The campaign against profiteering continues across the city to ensure maximum relief to citizens.
In this regard, a meeting was held to review measures against overcharging at the Commissioner’s office with Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi in the chair.
During the meeting, the commissioner directed all deputy commissioners to take strict action against profiteers and ensure strict adherence to official prices.
The commissioner directed the officials to show no leniency to those involved in overcharging. He also directed the officials in the field to take action on the spot against profiteers to ensure the availability of essential commodities at official prices.
Meanwhile, members of the commissioner’s monitoring team, including additional commissioners and assistant commissioners, submitted a report on on-the-spot actions taken so far in the month of Ramazan. The report mentioned that Rs34.5 million fines have been imposed on 4,243 profiteers in the last 19 days.
Also, 91 shops were sealed and 90 profiteers were arrested while prices were controlled at 18,771 locations across the city.
