- Anne adheres to Queen Elizabeth’s approach as royal traditions depart
- King’s sister refutes new changes as William grows in influence
- Anne would ‘rather not be a lonely outlier’ in the middle of the key transition
Prince William and Princess Kate are planning big changes for the monarchy as the palace has already begun laying the groundwork for the new king and queen.
There is no indication from the royals or the palace that, despite his ongoing cancer treatment, King Charles has any intention of abdicating, but the monarch has entrusted more duties to his heir.
Princess Anne had a solid reputation as one of the hardest working members of the royal family and is “softly loyal to the monarchy”. And while she is devoted to her brother Charles, she is also one of the very few who can challenge him and “not be ignored”, according to royal expert Richard Kay.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise that she is not keen on the many changes that have taken place as William grows in influence. She is annoyed that the royal family has “moved away from Queen Elizabeth’s approach”, especially in light of the Epstein scandal.
The royal expert shared that as the royals become more open in their statements, “Anne would rather not be a lone outlier in this regard and does not like the way the family has moved away from Queen Elizabeth’s approach”.
He explained that Anne likes Kate a lot, but she is “not entirely comfortable with the way Catherine and William have opened their hearts in times of personal difficulty”.
Anne is old school and strictly adheres to “stoic and noble traditions”, which is why it is a rather hard transition for her. Although he remains a key asset and is unlikely to change her way of life even as the monarchy takes new shape during William’s reign.
