In a significant move aimed at strengthening security and ensuring long-term peace in Balochistan, the federal and provincial governments on Monday agreed to deploy the federal constable across sensitive areas in the province.

The decision was taken during a high-level law and order meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat jointly chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.

The meeting brought together senior officials from key national institutions, including the National Database and Registration Authority, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, along with the Inspector General of the Federal Constabulary. Each institution provided a detailed briefing on ongoing measures to curb illicit activities, improve operational capabilities and stabilize the overall security environment.

An important decision during the session was the deployment of two wings of the Federal Constabulary in the first phase. Approximately 3,000 personnel will be deployed across various sensitive zones to strengthen police efforts and prevent subversive activities.

To further tighten law enforcement, the government decided to make the FIA more active and effective in the province. All vacancies would be filled with local recruits to create employment opportunities for the youth of Balochistan and improve the grassroots performance of the agency.

The federal and provincial leadership also agreed to intensify monitoring of anti-government activities on social media. Strict legal action will be taken against those involved in spreading misinformation, hostility towards national institutions or content intended to mislead the public.

Assuring the Balochistan government of unwavering federal support, Naqvi reiterated that Islamabad stood firmly with the province in its fight against terrorism. He promised improved professional training, resources and modern tools for the Balochistan Police and affirmed that restoring and maintaining peace in the province remains a top national priority.

Addressing the meeting, CM Bugti said that the provincial government was taking bold and decisive measures to eradicate terrorism and maintain order. He stressed that national unity was essential in the fight against violent extremism and reaffirmed that the state’s writ would be upheld without compromise.

Bugti noted that due to coordinated efforts, the situation in Balochistan had improved significantly and no highways were currently blocked in the name of protests.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment from both governments to work together for the establishment of lasting peace, strengthening of state authority and safeguarding citizens’ lives and property.

The session was also attended by MPA Mir Zia Langove, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hamza Shafqaat, Inspector General of Police Balochistan Mohammad Tahir Khan, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Imran Zarkoon and other senior officials.
