Sony has announced a price increase for its PlayStation 5 console range, with all models increasing by at least $100 globally.
The price comes into force on 2 April 2026.
The cheapest Digital Edition PS5 will now cost $599.99, up from $499.99. On the other hand, the standard version with a disk drive will sell for $649.99.
The premium version of the PS5 Pro will see a higher price increase of $150 and will be sold at $899.99. There is also a price increase on the PlayStation Portal Remote Player to $249.99.
In the UK, prices rise to £569.99 for the standard PS5, £519.99 for the Digital Edition and £789.99 for the Pro.
A similar trend will be observed in the European markets.
The company raised the price for the second time in a year after a $50 increase last August.
Sony attributed the price increase to “continued pressure in the global economic landscape,” citing rising memory costs.
In an official statement, Sony stated: “We know that price changes affect our community.”
“After careful evaluation, we determined that this was a necessary step to ensure that we can continue to deliver innovative, high-quality gaming experiences,” the company added.
