KARACHI:
The first case of mpox this year has been reported in Karachi, according to hospital sources.
A 31-year-old man had traveled abroad in January for a hair transplant. On his return, he was screened at Karachi airport, where the symptoms gave rise to the suspicion of infection. He was immediately shifted to Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital for further evaluation.
At the hospital, the patient was admitted and underwent a medical examination and tests. Chief physician Dr. Waheed Rajput confirmed that the patient tested positive for mpox. However, after showing improvement, he was discharged within two days.
