Khloé Kardashian has made a bombshell revelation about the moment she discovered Lamar Odom was using drugs again after spending months nursing him back to health following his near-fatal overdose.
She tells the story in full for the first time in a new Netflix documentary.
IN Untold: The Death and Life of Lamar OdomKhloé describes how she dropped everything when Odom was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel in October 2015, putting their nearly finalized divorce case on hold to care for him.
“I never left the hospital,” she said. “I was there for about four months, with him every single day. We were determined to get him walking and moving again.”
Odom suffered 12 strokes and six heart attacks in the aftermath of the overdose, something he describes in the documentary as “no mean s–t.”
After three days in a coma, he woke up briefly. “He says, ‘Hi, baby,’ and goes back to sleep,” Khloé recalled.
He was eventually transferred from Las Vegas to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles before moving to a private rehabilitation facility in early January.
When he was ready to leave, Khloé stepped back up, rented him a home near hers in Calabasas, hired a caretaker and a cook, and monitored his recovery.
“We had to rehabilitate him,” she said. Then in May 2016 she dropped by the house unannounced.
What she found stopped her in her tracks.
“When you know the smell of crack,” she said, “it’s the most recognizable, disgusting smell, and there’s nothing you can mistake it for.”
She decided to find out exactly what happened.
“I remember slowly tiptoeing up the stairs. He was in his bedroom, sitting on the edge of the bed smoking crack. And I just punched him in the face. ‘I just put my life on hold to f–king take care of you. How did you get this? You don’t have a f–king phone. You can’t talk.’
It turned out that Odom had a phone and had been hiding how much he had recovered.
“He was better than I knew,” Khloé said. “He played me so I can continue this lifestyle for him.”
She gave him until Monday to leave the house and told him she was done. “I never want to talk to you again,” she said.
She again filed for divorce and it was finalized in December 2016.
The two did not see each other again for nine years. When they finally met, as shown on The Kardashianstold Khloé Odom that she had hit him and “smashed everything in the house.”
Odom said he couldn’t remember the details but didn’t rule it out. “It shouldn’t have happened,” he said.
Khloé is now mother to daughter True, 7, and son Tatum, 3, with ex Tristan Thompson.
