The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is giving people a chance to be a part of history by sending their names to the Moon.
The space agency is currently accepting registrations for its Artemis II mission, which will be the first manned mission in its Artemis program. Anyone can register their first and last name for the historic mission through NASA’s official “Submit Your Name” website.
Registered participants will be able to download a digital boarding pass and have their names saved on a flash drive aboard the Orion spacecraft.
Artemis II is scheduled to launch on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
The crew consists of four astronauts named Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and CSA astronaut Jeremy Hansen will spend approximately 10 days around the Moon.
The mission serves as a critical test of the Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System rocket before future missions aim to land humans on the lunar surface.
To register, participants must provide a first and last name in addition to a personal 4-7 digit PIN code.
Using a PIN code, participants can keep track, as the agency cannot recover lost codes. Those who have already registered can search for their boarding pass using the online portal.
The names will be stored on an SD card aboard Orion, which will travel more than 230,000 miles from Earth as the crew circles the far side of the Moon.
The program is similar to one carried out on the Artemis I mission, which flew an unmanned test flight into space.
